Species: Qwueshaaldiv
(Kweh-shall-div)

Other Names:
Land Sharks

Physiology:
Height: 10’-70’ (average)
Anthromorphic Shark-like in many ways.

The Qwueshaaldiv are a species native to the original planet the Qwuedeviv came from before settling on Qwuh-9, Qwuedanjj. Qwueshaaldiv were one of the species used in the research facilities when developing the hybrid pet species, Qwuedeviv. In terms of intellectual status, the Qwueshaaldiv and Qwuedeviv alike are considered animal level. The human equivalent of the planet is knowledgeable far beyond current human comprehension. They tend to spend their time criticizing other species and fiddling with things that any sentient species really should not.

Detailed View:
‘Shaaldiv are incredibly large creatures with smooth skin. It is possible for some to have a rougher, bumpy skin as well but most are very smooth. These creatures tower above the majority of the other species of their home planet.

Large, shark-like creatures, Qwueshaaldiv have limbs that gradually thicken. Their fingers are webbed and their feet almost resemble the rounded foot of an elephant but with sharp, thick, clawlike toes. These are made of bone and are quite sturdy.

Qwueshaaldiv have several gill-like airvents along their nose/snout and sometimes behind their eyes, trailing down along their neck. They may also be found in the shoulder blade region of their back and lung range of their chest. Those with gill airvents directly to their lungs are more susceptible to illness from pollution, sickness, or any other number of airborne contaminants.

The sclera of the Qwueshaaldiv’s eye is always black or a similarly dark color with a pupil either white or colored. Their vision is not particularly outstanding, but it’s decent enough to be considered on the lower end of average. Their mouths are filled with rows of cartilage based shark teeth. Just like a shark, they will replace if one is torn out. It is not uncommon for these beasts to have more than one row of teeth. Notably this is also a feature the Qwuedeviv seemed to have inherited.

Their noses, sometimes referred to as a snout, are long and rounded at the end. The head usually has a thick fin at the base. Two large appendages sprout from their backs as well. These appendages are rather thick, too thick to be considered a tentacle but not particularly shaped as any sort of limb, they are thus considered back tails. The Qwueshaaldiv can store reserves of nutrients in these appendages. The thicker they are, the healthier the Qwueshaaldiv is assumed to be. Each back tail has a thin, semi translucent fin along it as does the arm of the Qwueshaaldiv.

The main tail of the Qwueshaaldiv may vary with two main appearances. The tail is very thick and long enough to reach the ground, often dragging behind the ‘shaaldiv. The tail may have a split fin at the tip like that of the common shark or may rather have a thick nub resembling the tips of the tails on their backs.

Qwueshaaldiv do have two genders, male and female respectively. Females are generally a little less bulky than the males and tend to have more rounded, curved features. Males are the bulkier of the two with more rugged angles to their features.

Qwushaaldiv, unlike many species, never stop growing within their lifespan. This is why their size ranges so greatly. It is not uncommon at all to find 40-70 feet tall Qwueshaaldiv. In fact, it is the most common size range. However, smaller ones may also be found—8-15 feet. It seems that 20-50 is the most average range though.

Senses: (As comparable to a human)

Sight:  Decent. It is their weakest sense but that doesn’t mean they are incapable of sight.

Hearing:  Average. Nothing worth noting.

Touch: Average. Nothing worth noting.

Taste: Above average.  They are rather fond of food.

Smell: Incredible. Unlike a lot of the other species of the planet the Qwueshaaldiv have an amazing sense of smell.

Diet: Meat. Qwueshaaldiv are very much carnivorous. Although they may like the occasional nibble from another food group they live on a diet of almost exclusively meat. As one could imagine they eat a lot of it too. Thus although generally civil towards other species, many are a bit wary of having any large number of them around. One thing they don’t do well without is meat after all.

Qwueshaaldiv Varieties:
The Qwueshaaldiv varieties are not as distinguished as Qwuedeviv varieties. They are most notably characterized by their differences in patterns and skin type.

The Rough Skinned Qwueshaaldiv
As one could expect, this type of Qwueshaaldiv has rough, bumpy skin.
Their colors may be dual toned or they may have rounded leopard patterns and spots. Rough Skinned Qwueshaaldiv tend to be more bland in color.

The Smooth Skinned Qwueshaaldiv
The most common kind of Qwueshaaldiv. The Smooth Skinned Qwueshaaldiv have smooth skin, as one could expect. Their markings are usually more vibrant, but dual toned is also found within this type. Markings may range from colorful spots to tiger-like stripes and even long strips of bright colors on occasion.

The Furred Qwueshaaldiv
Less common than the other two varieties, there does exist the furred Qwueshaaldiv. This fur is very short and fine. Much like the other types, they can be a large range of colors.

Natural Defenses:
Their size is their most natural defense. Being that they are rather huge, there isn’t much around that could eat them or possess much of an immediate threat. Their teeth also would be quite deadly if they were to bite something and their size in general is capable of crushing and causing excessive damage.

Species Abilities:
Nothing noteworthy unless you want to consider their strength to be special. They are very muscular creatures in terms of their internal composition.

Qwueshaaldiv “weakpoints”
Hitting one’s gills is the best method of attack against one of these giants. Their skin is fairly tough and they can take a good beating without much damage. The alternative would be to strike their eyes. Most of the time, neither target is readily available from ground level though. As such, it’s likely a good thing these beasts are fairly nonviolent towards other species.

Psychology:

Family:  ‘Shaaldiv pups remain with their parents until teenage years where they usually decide to venture out on their own. Already quite large by this point they are at no huge risk of predators.

Community:  They have no real species exclusive community. Qwueshaaldiv interact with the other species of their planet to form an interwoven community of various creatures. They can be found working in numerous locations, some requiring the strength they possess or others just pursuing interests they may have.

Although a large majority of the Qwueshaaldiv choose to stay on their home planet, there have been Qwueshaaldiv who have joined with the Qwuedeviv military or are stationed elsewhere for one reason or another.

Government: Their government, much like their community, is mixed with other species in the representative council.

Culture:
Qwueshaaldiv tend to roam their planet continuously as opposed to settling in one place. They may stay at one given location for some years before suddenly deciding to move elsewhere. They also live with only a few others. Their size would contribute to this in terms of space and food resources, but also their aggression towards one another stirs in larger groups.

Etiquette and Mannerisms:
Qwueshaaldiv don’t have a huge list of species specifics when it comes to interaction with each other. A common courtesy would always be to bring your own food though. It is actually not practiced to provide food for a guest or anything similar.

Qwueshaaldiv can be very territorial and often feel challenged by others of their species. Qwueshaaldiv thus tend to live with only a couple others of their kind. They get along with other species better usually.

Clothing:
Qwueshaaldiv favor vest-type shirts so that their arms don’t feel so restricted. They wear pants as well of no particular fashion. Noteworthy on the topic though is the material their clothing is made out of has to be decently thick, a tad stretchy and very smooth. Reason being they will tear it too easily if not and their skin can become irritated by rougher materials.

Names: Qwueshaaldiv aren’t always the most creative when it comes to names. Their names are often short and harsh sounding. By harsh sounding, I mean think along the naming style that ends in double K’s and G’s; Aogg, Akk, etc.

Note: When working with the Qwuedeviv outside species will usually adopt a name like the Qwuedeviv’s invader names if assisting in invasion related matters. Otherwise they tend to keep their usual name.

Relationship With Other Species:
The Qwueshaaldiv’s relationship with other species varies. They are known to be somewhat aggressive, but their aggression doesn’t necessarily lead to physical violence.  They’re also more apt to get mad at each other as opposed to another species unless said other species has given them a reason to.

They have been allies to the Qwuedeviv before and are generally fond of the felines. Anyone the Qwuedeviv ally themselves to are seen as okay by the Qwueshaaldiv whether they personally like them or not.

The Qwueshaaldiv and the Qwuedezoa are not always on the best of speaking terms due to the fact the Qwueshaaldiv have a bit of a record of eating the other species when hungry and unable to find other sources.

Random Facts:
Qwueshaaldiv have been known to eat their friends (other species) when they get hungry and have no immediate food access.

When working with a Qwueshaaldiv it is very important to keep a hefty supply of food around if you don’t want to risk becoming the next meal.

Qwueshaaldiv will go into a sort of feeding frenzy mode. Their personality may drastically change at such a time. Many don’t recall behaving savagely at all. This is once again why it’s better to keep them with a steady supply of food as it reduces the frenzy likelihood.

The Qwueshaaldiv are one of the species that were combined in the creation of the Qwuedeviv species.

A Qwueshaaldiv’s large size makes it rather difficult for them to move from one planet to another, but with the right ship and space it can be done.

Qwueshaaldiv can’t “blend in” very well so their presence is totally not something easily hidden.

Qwueshaaldiv will usually help other species if given an incentive to do so.

Qwueshaaldiv are fairly fond of the Qwuedeviv, and find them curiously strange little creatures. They are often amused by the tempers the Qwuedeviv possess.

Despite their shark like appearance, the Qwueshaaldiv do not usually live in water.
I wrote these a few days ago. Finishing them up now and figured I'd post them. Yes I'm still on vacation, but meh XD If you have more questions about them you can always send me a Note or something.
