Invader Name: Carpet Fire

Official Name: Miduhst Zenuc

Height: 5’7’’

Technical Gender: Male

Age: ?

Nickname: n/a

Species: Common Qwuedeviv

Appearance: Pale, dusty brown, short fur is the prominent feature of this Qwuedeviv. Its tail tip is black and it has three thick black stripes on its back. It also has black markings directly around its eyes and a set right behind that that resemble gills. Its eyes are purple and the underside of its tail has several cyan rings that glow.

It wears a set of clothing that falls somewhere between casual wear and uniform, consisting of black shirt and pants, black boots and belt and white gloves. A red-orange patch is on its left shoulder.

Personality:

Miduhst is a very serious Qwuedeviv. It seldom, if ever, laughs, or smiles, or even looks remotely pleasant. More often than not it either looks indifferent or angry. Its disposition leans towards no nonsense. It is strict and has relatively high goals set for the kittens it trains. It does not find their irresponsible kitten behavior to be cute or funny at all. All the same it is very patient in that it doesn’t lose its temper with them, but it is also quick to correct wrong behavior, making this Qwuedeviv far from any kittens’ favorite. Most of the kittens see it as mean, strict and unforgiving—the officer you want to be quiet around because you’ll probably say something wrong and get into big trouble. While to some extent a lot of that may be true, its motivation to do such is for the kittens’ benefit. Miduhst just wants to help the kittens develop into the capable soldiers it knows they can be with the self-discipline they’ll need to succeed; to ill prepare them would be to set them up for failure. So it accepts whatever labels the kittens have come up with for it, but refuses to change its practices. Tough love would describe it well. Miduhst is genuinely concerned with their well-being, although it does get frustrated from time to time enough to want to throw its hands into the air and give up.

Background:
Miduhst is a classroom instructor/warrant officer for kittens at the Academy. It deals primarily with basic battle education, this encompasses both explanation of physics and how to apply such to strategies as well as other things like basic knowledge of other species, for their own safety. It has been training kittens for enough years, to see the same sort of cycle repeat again and again. Qwuedeviv kittens are not easy, nor pleasant, to work with and it takes a heavy toll on the one who has to deal with them.

Miduhst is the nightmare of many a kitten with its total relentless and uncompromising attitude towards what they want to do. It is well aware that the kittens have all kinds of fabricated stories about it. Either way, Miduhst really isn’t a bad guy as far as Qwuedeviv go. It puts sincere effort into what it does.

Miduhst as a matter of fact, adopted in Loan Shark when it was a young kitten transfer from the Arctic base. The other kittens of course, made a big to do about it all and spread all kinds of false stories to Loan Shark about how it would never last and such. Miduhst never really intervened into kitten to kitten confrontation though, to do so would only delay the fights that would break out amongst them anyway. One could teach kittens how to appropriately deal with each other, but it didn’t mean they’d heed it.

Well, not many of them anyway. Loan Shark was something of another story, having a much more teachable spirit and a willingness to learn. It was the primary basis for why Miduhst chose to mentor the kitten one on one as a parental unit in name. Granted Miduhst has never been much of an affectionate Qwuedeviv though and praise from it is hard to come by so it was something of a struggle for both parties involved.

When Loan Shark met Smiley things went downhill pretty fast. Miduhst couldn’t understand why the kitten who had been so promising had changed so drastically. Although it tried to give the blue and white kitten several chances to redeem itself and get back on the right track it just seemed to have no interest in doing so. Its life seemed to be a spiral of constant trouble and scarring of its permanent records.

Miduhst eventually made the decision to reverse the ‘adoption’ in hopes that it would get the kitten’s attention before it ended up ruining its future career, and so Loan Shark was sent back with the other kittens. Miduhst still watched Loan Shark, disappointed with the kitten, but still hopeful that it would come around. It never seemed to do so. Although it excelled in its classes and always seemed very respectful and mindful of its instructors, it just seemed to have another side to it that was the exact opposite. It simply made no sense. Miduhst tried asking Loan Shark about it on a few different occasions, giving many long lectures about the damage it was doing to itself and although the young ‘deviv always seemed genuinely sorry, it would go right back to the strange behavioral pattern.

Miduhst suspected there was more to what was going on than it was being able to see, but didn’t really have any solid proof. After the kitten graduated from the Academy—with a record that was never going to get it anywhere—Miduhst confronted it yet again, this time, perhaps a tad more aggressively. Refusing to let it go anywhere until it got answers, Loan Shark did finally tell it what had been going on—in one giant, total breakdown that is. Miduhst told the other ‘deviv that it would respect its choices, although it did believe the whole thing had been a rather stupid mistake that could have been fixed ages ago if it had only said something. Miduhst still promised not to tell any of the superiors to try and get it straightened out though by request of Loan Shark.

Regardless, the two’s relationship was mended quite a bit from the previous years and Miduhst has full trust in Loan Shark and its abilities. Although it may not be officially its mentor, Loan Shark still regards it as such and likewise, Miduhst still acts as such. It is by no means specialized in the line of work that Loan Shark is, but it knows plenty about dealing with others and persevering. The two have a mutual respect for each other really. Although about seventy to eighty percent of the time, Miduhst is still lecturing Loan Shark about how it should’ve responsed to situations. Most importantly though, regardless to if Miduhst thinks the little cat has a lot to learn, it is all the same incredibly proud of it and its dedication to the Qwuedeviv military.
